Veteran Hausa Actor, Samanja Dies At 84

Usman Baba Pategi, also known as Samanja, a veteran Hausa drama performer, has died.

After a long illness, he died in the early hours of Sunday morning in a private hospital in Kaduna State.

Before retiring to work for the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Kaduna, the late Kannywood actor served in the Nigerian Army.

Samanja died at the age of 84, leaving two spouses and twelve children left.

The late actor’s funeral prayer will be held at the Kabala Costain mosque in Kaduna, according to a statement made by one of his sons, Mohammad Usman, in compliance with an Islamic commandment.
