Saratu Gidado, a veteran Kannywood actress also known as Daso, died at the age of 56.
Relatives of the late actress confirmed the sad news to Freedom Radio, stating that Daso was discovered lifeless on Tuesday morning.
According to the grieved family members, Daso was discovered dead after returning to bed after Sahur, the pre-dawn meal eaten before fasting during Ramadan.
Her unexpected death has shocked the business and fans.
Daso, born on January 17, 1968, in Kano, etched her name in the sands of time with her outstanding performances, notably in comedic roles in which she played aggressive and naughty characters.
Daso made her debut in the year 2000 with the film “Linzami Da Wuta,” which was produced by Sarauniya Movies. She soon won over fans with her amazing talent and variety.
Her catalog of popular films that launched her to stardom includes “Nagari,” “Gidauniya,” “Mashi,” and “Sansani.”
Her colorful personality and flawless acting abilities endeared her to followers throughout the Hausa-speaking regions and beyond, cementing her place as a key character in the Kannywood landscape.

Reflecting on her death, a close acquaintance of the late actress, Habiba Umar, said: “Daso’s departure leaves a vacuum in the profession that will be impossible to fill. She was not only a superb actress, but also a kind person who impacted many people’s lives via her performances.”
