Victor Osimhen Extends Napoli Contract Till 2026

Victor Osimhen, a striker from Nigeria, has extended his contract with Napoli, allowing him to stay with the team until 2026.

The African Footballer of the Year’s contract extension was revealed by the Italian champions on Saturday through a post on their official X Twitter.

“Victor and Napoli together until 2026,” said Napoli on social media, alongside a picture of the Nigerian international striker signing the new deal alongside club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

A release clause worth between 120 million and 130 million euros ($132 million and $143 million) has reportedly been added to the deal, however Napoli has not disclosed any specifics. This is reportedly done to prevent the club from losing its top player to Premier League suitors without making a profit.

Osimhen’s last contract was set to end in June 2025, and ever since Napoli won their first league title in more than thirty years last season, there has been much debate in Italy about whether or not to renew it.

Under the late coach Luciano Spalletti, he scored 26 league goals as Napoli won the title for the first time since Diego Maradona played for the team. Napoli enthralled Europe with exciting football.

In total Osimhen has scored 67 times in 118 appearances since signing from Lille in 2020.

Napoli are however 14 points behind Serie A leaders Inter ahead of their clash at rivals Roma on Sunday night and were dumped out of the Italian Cup by Frosinone midweek.
