Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy, has stated that he is willing to pay bloggers to stop posting news items about him.
On Friday, the musician listed specific blogs and asked them how much he would pay them to “forget my name completely.”
“How far, abeg make all of una do meeting then decide how much I go give all of una make una forget my name totally,” he wrote in pidgin English.
“I know say I never pay any of una before so I say make I just run am finally. I greet you bros!!”
Reacting to the post, an X user identified as Daniel Regha, told the singer not to discredit “Nigerian blogs” because they have “contributed to your growth in life”.
“Some news might be wrong but just like fans, you owe them a lot of thanks,” the user said.
“Many people won’t hear about you, your wins, or projects if they had not promoted it. Stop acting like you are self-made, many people paved a way for you.”
Responding to the X user, Burna Boy asked Regha how much he would like to receive.
“Oga how much be your money?? Make you sef develop amnesia for my matter. You follow for people wey I dey talk about,” he said in pidgin English.
Another user said: “if they stop posting about you, you will totally be forgotten”.
In response, Burna Boy said “make I pay money first, if dem born anybody make dem remember my name after I don sort”.
Burna Boy rose to prominence following the release of ‘Like to Party,’ the first single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E.
After his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards in 2021, the artist established a record in Nigeria.
Burna Boy has also been named the first African artist to surpass one billion Audiomack streams.
The singer’s latest album, ‘I Told Them,’ debuted at number one on the UK Official Albums Chart.
