Why I Dropped Out Of LASU – Oxlade

Oxlade, a Nigerian artist, claims he dropped out of Lagos State University (LASU) after receiving threats to join a cult.

Oxlade revealed in a recent interview that he quit school during his last year when suspected cultists attacked his housemates.

The ‘Ku Lo Sa’ hitmaker said he avoided the attack because his grandma invited him to visit her in Ibadan, Oyo, days before the incident.

“Due to the struggle it took me to enter that school (LASU), I was a bookworm for two years. My daddy warned me (If you do music I will not pay your school fees). We sent you to school with money. I was always in the chapel,” he said.

“If you are outside outside, you cannot be serious. It is either you join a cult. So when I was always in the church I did not have a choice. I was reading the Bible, reading books. And then I dropped out in my final year.

“I have never said this before. When like some boys were trying to make me join a gang. One day, my grandma just called me ‘Where are you?’ I said I was in school. ‘Be coming home’. Where is home? Ibadan.

“You know since that day, those boys almost killed my roommate. I have never said this before. I have always saved it for personal reasons. That is why I appreciate my grandma’s importance in my life.

“Forget all these we are saying o. God dey. And I am saying it with my full chest, God don save me countless times.

“I was there (Ibadan) for like a week. The next few days they said they came to beat the sh*t out of everybody in my hostel.”
