Since taking over as the state governor of Ondo State three weeks after being sworn in as the official governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been doing business out of his former deputy governor’s office.
Aiyedatiwa has not yet taken up residence at the governor’s office, which is housed in the Government House in the state capital of Akure, Alagbaka, according to Saturday PUNCH.
Shortly after the passing of the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa took office on December 27, 2023, and it was reported that she was gradually settling down to handle government business.
In his inaugural speech, the new governor pledged to pick up where his predecessor left off and to include all interested parties in his administration.
Additionally, it was stated that the governor met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos following the swearing-in, but the latter encouraged him to reorganize the All Progressives Congress in the state before to selecting the deputy governor.
He was reportedly now conferring with senators from the state’s center or northern senatorial districts to decide who would serve as his deputy.
Nevertheless, information surfaced that the governor had been conducting business from his previous office, which he utilized as the deputy governor’s office, since he had returned to work.
As of Friday, the governor had not yet moved into the main governor’s office, according to a source in the governor’s office, and Aiyedatiwa was not using Government House.
The source said, “The governor has been coming to the office, but he has been using his old deputy governor office to operate and receive visitors. He has yet to occupy the state Government House too. The only place he uses in the Government House is the Presidential Lodge where he receives visitors. The governor’s residential lodge too has not been used by the governor.”
Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor’s chief press secretary, revealed to us that the governor was receiving visitors at the presidential lodge while renovating other locations. He also mentioned that the governor’s office was being renovated.
“The governor has been using the Government House; he receives visitors at the presidential lodge. Others are undergoing renovation. Very soon, everything will be alright. The new building in the Government House is nearing completion and he might be using there.
“The main governor’s office too is under renovation; after the renovation, the governor will move in,” the CPS stated
