The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has revealed why senators did not question Rivers State’s immediate past governor, Nyesom Wike, during the ministerial nominations screening.
Wike’s experiences as a governor and minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan were referenced by Akpabio.
Senator Barinada Mpigi (PDP, Rivers) requested that the former Rivers governor “bow and go” after reading his brief bio.
Wike, according to Akpabio, was not fully probed because of his previous service as a minister.
He stated that when ex-President Goodluck Jonathan nominated Wike as a minister, he came before the Senate for vetting.
“Having been nominated again for a ministerial position, there is no point asking him many questions,” Akpabio said.
