He rose to prominence on Instagram after posting videos of himself preaching the gospel in comical ways reminiscent of local prophets.
Early Life & Education
Woli Arole was born on February 22, 1990, in the Nigerian city of Ibadan, Oyo State. He is originally from Ondo state’s ikare Akoko. He comes from a family of three, two boys and one girl.
He received his primary education in Olopade Agoro Apata, Ibadan, and his secondary education at Government College, Ibadan.
He went on to study psychology at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Osun state.
Career
Woli Arole began at the church. He joined the drama group at each church he attended.
Woli Arole began comedy at Obafemi Awolowo University as an undergraduate in the 100 Level in 2008/2009 and was one of the top acts during his time there. He went on to further his career as a comedian after graduating from university and has since risen in the industry.
His big break came in 2016, when he won the second edition of Alibaba’s Spontaneity Competition. He then released a viral video in which he attacked UNILORIN students. Students at the institution also responded, and Woli Arole has since continued to make short comedy skits online.
He embraced social media and gained popularity through short Instagram videos. He auditioned for and was a finalist in the Alibaba Spontaneity competition in Lagos.
Woli Arole made his acting debut in 2018 with the film “The Call,” starring Yinka Quadri, Hafeez Oyetoro ‘Saka,’ Segun Arinze, Ebiye, and Etinosa Idemudia. He’s also appeared in films like Alakada Reloaded and Gold Statue.
Personal Life
Woli Arole married Yemi, his longtime lover, after six years of dating. The couple married in April 2021 in a glamorous wedding ceremony attended by DJ Neptune, Mr Macaroni, Lateef Adedimeji, and other celebrities.
Their marriage is blessed with a child who was born in January 2021. The actor took to Instagram to make the announcement. He wrote:
