Get To Know Magixx, Nigerian Afrobeat Musician

Adelabu Alexander, better known as Magixx, is a Nigerian Afrobeat musician and composer who rose to prominence after releasing his EP project, Magixx. After months of training at Mavin Academy, the young musician was signed to Mavin Records.

Early Life and Education

He was born on September 27, 1999, to Mr. and Mrs. Alexander in Ogba, Lagos State, where he grew up, however he is originally from Ekiti State in Nigeria. As a child, he was enthralled by music and would spend hours listening to songs from diverse genres such as pop, hip-hop, reggae, and highlife.

He was inspired to try his hand at music by musicians such as Fela Kuti, 2baba, D’banj, and Shina Peters and began penning music lyrics in the seclusion of his bedroom. He advanced from merely penning songs to playing them in front of an audience at local school contests and carnivals over time.

He received his primary and secondary schooling in Lagos State, albeit the schools’ names were not revealed. He studied mass communication at the University of Lagos and graduated with a bachelor’s degree.

Career

Magixx started writing songs while still in high school. He began by learning to play a variety of musical instruments. He rose to notoriety after winning the Mass Communications Got Talent competition while studying at the University of Lagos in 2015.

In the year 2018, he got formally signed by the Music by Nature Record Label MBN. Magixx was active in the UNILAG music scene while still a student, regularly attending parties, gigs, and concerts. He never failed to wow with his musical abilities during these occasions. As a result, he became a well-known personality in Unilag’s entertainment sector, cultivating a small but devoted fan base.

In April 2019, he shared a cover of Burna Boy’s famous song Dangote to his Instagram feed. On the internet, the video has received over 35,000 views. He is also known to have previously released freestyle versions of popular songs. He released a cover of Sinner on September 3rd, 2021. Like his earlier cover songs, the video became popular on Instagram, with over 43,000 views. The original music was performed by Adekunle Gold.

Music executive Don Jazzy named Magixx as the newest Mavin Records signee on September 23, 2021. Magixx, a Mavin Academy student for months, released his debut record, Magixx EP, on the same day he was signed.

Love Don’t Cost A Dime, Like A Movie, Pati, Gratitude, and Motivate Yourself are among the five songs on Magixx’s EP.

The song’s visuals were shot by director K, who is one of the best in the business.

Fashion model Sonia Kordi appeared in the video, and Styled By Reus was hired as a fashion stylist.

During the project’s pre-release phase, Magixx worked closely with Mavin executives Tega Oghenejobo (Chief Operating Officer) and Rima Tahini (Director of A&R).

Personal Life

Magixx is a resident of Lekki, Lagos. He lives at Mavin’s apartment complex, where he lives alongside Ruger, Rema, and Ladipoe, among others. Magixx has secured a contract with Mavin Records, which will increase his exposure. His songs and brand would be produced, published, and promoted by the record label.

The rising Afrobeats star is now unmarried and unattached.
