Abbey Elias, better known as Skiibii Mayana, is a well-known Nigerian singer who signed with Five Start Music in 2014 and has since released a string of successful singles, including “Ah Skiibii.” He quit his previous label last year to start his own production firm, MoreGrace Music World, where he is now working on his debut album.
Early Life & Education
Abbey Elias, better known as Skiibii Mayana, was born in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria on July 5, 1992. He was raised in Lagos State. Skiibii, which means “Smart and Sharp Person,” was given to him by one of his uncles. In Lagos, he attended both primary and secondary school. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from the University of Ado Ekiti (now known as Ekiti State University).
Career
Skiibii began his musical career in high school as a rapper before moving to R&B. He had to overcome numerous challenges as he grew older, notably when it came time to inform his parents of his job choice. His father did not share his enthusiasm for music.
Skiibii persisted in his dreams until he began his professional music career on December 24, 2014, after signing with Five Star Music and obtaining a special package that included a brand new 2014 Hyundai SUV. He released his first official single, “Stay With Me,” featuring Kcee, in January 2015. He also appeared on Chimbalin’s smash “Kilimanjaro.”
He had to leave the Five Star Record label and start his own studio, “More Grace Music.” His hit “London,” which was equally popular, featured Reekado Banks, but it wasn’t enough. Skiibii rose to prominence with his hit single “Sensima,” which featured Reekado Banks, one of his frequent collaborators. Skibii has had a string of songs since emerging into the spotlight, including his star-studded collaboration “Daz How Star Do” alongside Falz and Teni.
Controversy
According to some claims, Skiibii executed a trick in August 2015 by faking his own death. Of course, it did not go over well with his followers, but the important point is that he gained fame.
