According to Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, the late singer attempted to reconcile him with his wife, Abosede Aloba.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died on September 12 and was buried the next day.
The circumstances surrounding his death have sparked further debate.
Abosede stated in October that she only began a cordial connection with Mohbad in 2019.
In a recent interview with radio personality Oriyomi Hamzat, Aloba stated that Mohbad attempted to arrange a wedding ceremony for him and Abosede in order to reunite them.
Aloba also revealed that he had been estranged from the late singer’s mother for 15 years.
He stated that the wedding was planned for October, a month before Mohbad’s death.
Aloba added that he would honour the late singer’s request to reconcile with Abosede even in his death.
“The day Mohbad died, I had earlier decided that I would not go out of the house, but Mohbad’s mother called me that Mohbad was ill. I then told her to meet me at the bus stop because her place was not far from mine. We had started talking at that time,” he said.
“Even it was just a month that he (Mohbad) wanted to organise a wedding ceremony for us. He tried a lot. He is a son I love. He would say ‘daddy, this is what I want’. He said ‘why should I go to Ikorodu because I want to see my father and go to Sango to visit my mother’.
“When I heard those words I remembered everything he had been saying for over two years. When I listened to him when he was alive, should I now do otherwise when he died? It is not what is good.
“What is he (Mohbad) said in his song about not seeing his mother for 10 years was actually 15 years.
“Everybody knows in our family. Mohbad was seven years old when his mum left. His sibling was two and half years, while his older sister was 10 years old.”
On September 21, Mohbad’s body was exhumed by the police for autopsy.
Several Nigerians, including singer Bella Shmurda and actress Tonto Dikeh, have called for Mohbad’s body to be released for burial.
Abosede stated last week that after the police did an autopsy on Mohbad, the body was released to Aloba for burial.
She claimed that despite her appeals, Aloba refused to “release the corpse for burial.”
Aloba, on the other hand, warned that no one should collect his son’s remains for burial without his permission.
The Lagos lawyer presiding on Mohbad’s coroner’s inquest revealed last Thursday that the toxicological test for the internal body is being performed in the United States.
