The Ikorodu magistrate court will hear a claim brought by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, demanding a DNA test for Liam, the late singer’s kid.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023 and was buried the day after.
The circumstances surrounding his death have sparked further controversy.
On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s body. The police reported that they were awaiting the findings of the autopsy conducted that day.
Aloba refused to surrender Mohbad’s remains for burial.
He also demanded that a DNA test be performed to determine the paternity of Liam, Mohbad’s son from Omowunmi.
Aloba’s legal team said in a statement that a date had been set for the DNA test application hearing.
The late singer’s family also demanded a court order for Omowunmi to submit herself and her kid for testing.
“A date has been fixed for mention of the DNA test application requested by the family of the late ace pop singer, Mr Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba (also known as Mohbad), who died September 12, 2023, in an unusual circumstance,” the notification goes on to say.
“All required legal equipment (sic) are in place to ensure the success of the matter. The application is filed at the Family Court of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court (MKD/31/FAM/2024), Joseph Aloba v Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba.
“The family, represented by the deceased father, is seeking an order of the court directing that a deoxyribonucleic acid test be conducted concerning the paternity of Master Liam Aloba, an alleged son of Mr Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba (deceased), in a recognised and accredited government or private medical facility within Lagos State, Nigeria at the expense of the applicant.”
Aloba urged police to investigate Omowunmi’s death and determine the cause.
