FG Increases Passport Procurement Fees

The Federal Government has doubled the fees for obtaining a Nigerian passport, effective September 1, 2024.

DCI Kenneth Udo, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service, stated that the increase is part of the government’s efforts to safeguard the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

According to the review, a 32-page passport booklet with 5-year validity, which was previously charged at 35,000 Naira (N35,000.00), will now be Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00), while a 64-page passport booklet with 10-year validity, which was previously charged at 70,000 Naira (N70,000.00), will be one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00).

According to the statement, fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged.

While expressing regret for any inconvenience that this increase may cause prospective applicants, the NIS assured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to transparency and excellent service delivery at all times.
