Jamiu Azeez, better known as Alabi Opomulero in Yoruba Nollywood, is an actor and film producer. He was born in Lagos State in the early 1980s. He is a screenwriter and storyteller. He is the founder and CEO of Jazeez Production, a film production company. He was recently nominated for Best Supporting Actor of the Year and Most Promising Actor of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards (Yoruba).
Early Life & Education
He is the first of four boys to be born to his mother and the second of two boys to his stepmother. Jamiu Azeez was born in Lagos and raised there, but he is originally from Ilorin, Kwara State. He attended SS Peter and Paul School, Morocco Comprehensive High School, and Anguish Memorial School in Shomolu, Lagos State, before enrolling at Lagos State University to study Marketing. Jamiu Azeez grew up watching Yoruba movies. He has grown to admire veteran actress Opeyemi Aiyeola, whom he recently named as a role model.
Jamiu Azeez started his acting career after being inspired to act by legendary actor Jide Kosoko. He rose to fame after appearing in the film Jamail. He has appeared in a number of films since then, including The Ekute Onidodo, Journey, Orofo, Majemu, Olalekan Irawo, Igbese, Arole Are, among others.
Jamiu Azeez accused Morenike Alausa Sulaimon, also known as Mana Ereko, of stealing his narrative for his upcoming film ‘Oko Ramota’ in an Instagram post in February 2021. Mama Ereko responded by saying she never stole the Omo Romota movie idea.
