Kano TikToker Murja Kunya Remanded in Prison for ‘Immoral Acts’

Murja Kunya, a popular TikToker recently arrested by the Kano Hisbah board for alleged immoral behavior, has been remanded in prison.

On Tuesday, Aliyu Usman, chairman and officer in command of operation ‘Kai da badala’ surveillance, stated that the material producer was arrested on Monday in the Tinshama district of the state.

According to Usman, Kunya is accused of “immoral acts” and will be tried in a Shari’ah court.

“She was arrested yesterday (Monday) late evening at her residence in the Tinshama neighborhood. We waited around three hours until she arrived and we picked her up,” he stated.

“She is being accused with immoral conduct that she is well-known for. Every day about 10 p.m., someone comes over to pick her up and returns her around 12 midnight or 1 a.m.

On Wednesday, however, a top Hisbah source revealed to The Cable Lifestyle that Kunya had been arraigned in Kano Shari’ah court.

The informant further stated that the TikTok user has been remanded to prison and will be re-arraigned on February 20.

“It is confirmed that she was detained and charged on Wednesday. She has been remanded in prison. Maybe on the 20th of this month, she will be back in court. She disputed the seven charges brought against her yesterday,” the source stated.

In a popular video, Khadija Sagir Sulaiman, an officer at Hisbah, questions why Kunya was released after being charged with the identical offense last year.

Last year, Kunya was placed in prison for violating Islamic precepts.
