Kate Henshaw, Desmond Elliot Join AFRIFF 2023 Jury

Kate Henshaw and Desmond Elliot have been named to the 2023 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) jury.

AFRIFF’s Director of PR and media, Latasha Ngwube, announced the jury in a statement on Monday.

The festival’s 12th edition will take held from November 5 to 11 at the Landmark Center on Victoria Island in Lagos.

The AFRIFF jury this year includes famous members of the film business and beyond, such as Stephen ‘Dr.’ Love, producer of ‘They Cloned Tyrone,’ and Abby Ajayi, Nigerian-British writer-producer.

Others are Greg Otudayo, the Nigerian filmmaker; Tsitsi Dangarembga, the 2023 African Peace Prize winner; and Wafa’a Céline Halawi, a Lebanese-French actress.

Also on the jury are Geneva Wasserman, a technology expert; Ranada Shepard, a Cuban-American film producer; and Nicholas Weinstock, a Hollywood producer.

Some other Nigerians among the jury include Busola Tejumola, head of content at MultiChoice; Kate Henshaw, Nollywood actress; and Desmond Elliott, the lawmaker.

For its 12th edition, AFRIFF announced it received over 2,000 film submissions from more than 100 nations across five continents.

The jury will choose the finalists for the AFRIFF Globe Awards, which will honor 14 outstanding films and filmmakers.

AFRIFF is an internationally acclaimed film festival that showcases the best of African and diaspora cinema.

Chioma Ude started the festival, which has grown into a prestigious forum for filmmakers to display their work and connect with viewers from all over the world.
