Lanre Adesina Hassan, who is most popularly known as Iya Awero, is a renowned Nigerian film actress. She is very popular in acting in Yoruba films. She has acted in over 60 Yoruba films right from the start of her career in the movie industry.

Early Life & Education

Iya Awero was born in Lagos on October 3, 1950. She was born and spent the majority of his childhood in Lagos Island, Lagos State, which is located in southwestern Nigeria. She received her primary education at Oduwabore Memorial School in Mushin, Lagos. She attended Ibadan Children’s Home School in Oyo State, St. Peters Faaji School in Lagos Island, and Molas High School in Lagos Island. Before she began acting, Iya Awero attended the School of Drama, where she received training.


Lanre Hassan began her acting career while still in secondary school with the well-known Ojo Ladipo theatre group. She has since appeared in over 50 Nollywood films. The popular television comedy series “Comedy Half Hour,” in which Iya Awero plays the title role, is produced by the Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group. Her popularity has skyrocketed, and she is now well-known throughout Nigeria.

Lanre is an exceptional actor who brings her roles to life with creativity, flair, and exceptional talent. She has been acting for nearly 30 years. She is well-known for her motherly roles in films. Lanre Hassan starred as “Iya Loja” in the 2018 film “King of Boy,” directed by one of Nigeria’s top female directors, Kemi Adetiba.

Aliu Hassan Adesina, who passed away roughly 15 years ago, was Iya Awero’s husband. The couple has three children, two boys and a girl.
