Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Media, plans to release a short film titled ‘Dust to Dreams’.
The film, directed by British actor Idris Elba, is a collaboration between EbonyLife Films and the African Export-Import Bank’s Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).
‘Dust to Dreams’ chronicles a mother’s relationship with her teenage daughter as she sees her father for the first time.
Nollywood stars appear in the film, including Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, former Nigerian Idol participant Constance Olatunde, and British musician Seal.
Abudu created ‘Dust to Dreams’. The media entrepreneur will also work as an executive producer and producer.
Heidi Uys is the project’s supervising producer. Other producers include Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.
Last year, Abudu and Elba launched a cooperation to elevate African storytelling through their production firms.
The filmmakers stated that the alliance would increase capacity and promote true representation of African works in global cinema and television ventures.
These co-productions between Elba’s Green Door Pictures and Abudu’s EbonyLife Media will produce a variety of material for broadcasters, streaming services, and theatrical distribution worldwide.
Speaking on the project, Abudu said: “We believe that Africa has the talent and the stories to captivate the world. We intend to discover the best that African stories have to offer global audiences.”
