Nigerian Music Producer, Rexxie ‘Arrested’ in Uganda Days After Engagement

Rexxie, a Nigerian music producer, claims he has been arrested in Uganda.

On Monday, the producer revealed on his Instagram page that he was being held by Ugandan immigration.

Rexxie denounced the arrest as “unfair” and requested assistance.

“I have been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. Pls I need help,” he wrote.

“This is so unfair! HELP HELP HELP!!! #UgandaFreeRexxie.”

He did not, however, explain the basis for his arrest.

The event occurred shortly after he announced his engagement to Chisom, his long-time lover.

It also comes almost two years after Omah Lay and Tems were jailed in Uganda.

The musicians were held after performing at a concert that reportedly broke COVID-19 social distancing standards.

They were released after three nights of incarceration.

Rexxie, born Ezeh Chisom Faith, is well known for inventing the Zanku sound and producing Naira Marley’s ‘Soapy’ and ‘Tesumole’.

In 2021, he released his debut album, ‘A True Champion’.

The next year, he recorded the smash track ‘Abracadabra’, which featured Naira Marley and Skiibii.

The music producer enlisted Wizkid to rework the tune.

Rexxie became a Grammy-winning producer when Burna Boy’s ‘Twice As Tall’ won the ‘Global Music Album’ category in 2021.

He received recognition in 2022 for his contribution to Angelique Kidjo’s hit single ‘Do Yourself’.

Rexxie’s sophomore album, ‘Big Time’, featured collaborations with Sarkodie, Lojay, and Zlatan.
