Police Speak on Mohbad’s Autopsy Report

The Lagos state police command says the autopsy report of Mohbad, the late street-pop singer, has not been given to them.

Mohbad died under mysterious circumstances on September 12. He was buried the following day.

On September 21, the body of the 27-year-old music star was exhumed by the police for autopsy.

Two months after the exhumation, however, the details of Mohbad’s autopsy results are yet to be made public.

On November 19, Bella Shmurda, the singer, asked the police to release Mohbad’s corpse and autopsy result.

Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, also previously lamented the delay in the release of his son’s autopsy result.

He said the delay is causing Mohbad’s remains “to suffer”.

But according to PUNCH, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, said they are yet to receive the result officially.

“The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it is ready,” he said.

“It is one thing for it to be ready, it is another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it.

“So, we do not work with rumours, we work with facts.”

On October 4, the police arraigned Naira Marley and Sam Larry before the Magistrate court in Yaba.

The arraignment was due to their alleged conflicts with Mohbad in the months preceding his death.

However, they were later released from custody on bail.
