Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable Omolalomi, is a popular Nigerian-born musician and songwriter who rose to fame after his hit song zazu Zeh blew up the Nigerian airwaves. He is well-known for his slang and his idamu adugbo (street disturbance) lifestyle.

Early Life & Education

Portable Omolalomi was born on March 12, 1994, in the ancient city of Abeokuta, Ogun State. He was born to the Yoruba family of Mr. and Mrs. Okikiola in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria. He attended primary and secondary school in Abeokuta before enrolling in Kwara State Polytechnic.

He was influenced by rap songs by American artists such as Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Snoop Dogg while still in elementary school, which he listened to on his father’s audio cassette player. He admired these musicians and began writing rap songs whenever he felt inspired.

However, with the rise of indigenous rap artists such as Lord Of Ajasa, Dagrin, Danny Young, Olamide, QDot, and CDQ, he decided to switch to Yoruba rap and pursue a career as a musician.

Career

Portable is well-known for the slang Zazu Zeh. The Zaazu crooner, who has risen to prominence in a matter of months, has decided to relocate to Lagos State, Africa’s music capital, in order to achieve his goals.

While in Lagos, Portable Omolalomi sought out producers with whom he could collaborate, as he was constantly writing new rap songs. He did, however, keep a 9-5 job as an artisan on the mainland of Lagos to pay his bills. Despite the fact that he had recorded a couple of songs that did poorly commercially, Portable Omolalomi was unafraid to pursue his dream of becoming an A-list artist in the industry.

Portable, on the other hand, has been in the music industry for over a decade before his final breakthrough and proper recognition from top singers such as Olamide, Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage, among others. Portable was introduced to Olamide in a video by Poco Lee, and Olamide immediately took notice and called him up the next day to record a song, which gave him a boost and kickstarted his career in proper reckoning.

Personal Life

Portable previously resided on the mainland of Lagos but has recently relocated to the island of Lekki. He lives in a spacious apartment in Lekki’s high-rise neighborhood. He has yet to marry, but he is known to have two children from different women.

Controversy

On 18 July 2022, Portable made a video on Instagram claiming to be the founder of the notorious cult group One Million Boys, which got Nigerians attention in order for an investigation by the Nigeria Police Force, which he later denies saying what he meant was one million followers. This result him in getting disqualified for The Headies 2022 which was announced by the organizers on 26 July 2022
