Rita Chikwelu (born March 6, 1988) is a Nigerian professional footballer who currently plays for the Spanish club Levante Las Planas and the Nigeria women’s national team, Super Falcons.
Early Life
Rita Chikwelu was born on the 6th of March, 1988, in Asabe, Delta State, which falls among the states in the Southern part of Nigeria.
Career
Professional Career
From 2006 to 2009, Chikwelu played for FC United in Finland. In 2009, she led the Finnish women’s league Naisten Liiga in scoring with 22 goals.
Chikwelu spent seven seasons with Ume IK between 2010 and 2016, but he left after the team was demoted and signed a two-year contract with Kristianstads DFF.
International Career
Chikwelu competed in the FIFA U-20 World Cup from 2004 to 2008. She made her senior national team debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2007. She was a member of the Nigerian Olympic team that competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in China, as well as the Nigerian team that competed in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
