Early Life & Education
Runtown was born on August 19, 1989, in Enugu State, which is located in Nigeria’s Southeast geopolitical zone. He grew up in Lagos and attended primary school there. After his father died, he returned to Abuja to live with his mother, who was working in the Ministry of Health at the time. Runtown also studied Fashion Management at a New York City fashion institute.
Career
Runtown’s official career began when he released his first song, Runtown. He began featuring prominent singers such as Phyno, Timaya, J-Martins, and others after moving to Lagos in 2007. Penthauze Music was founded in Lagos in 2008 by Runtown and Phyno. On the Penthauze record label, he released two songs, Party Like It’s 1980 and Activity Pikin.
Then, in 2014, he signed an agreement with Prince Okwudili Umenyiora, CEO of Dilly Motors and owner of Eric-Many Entertainment. Runtown’s contract with Eric Manny Entertainment expired in June 2018. He then established his own record label, Soundgod Music Group.
Personal Life
Runtown and Selena Leath began dating in 2015. Selena Leath, a model and actress, has appeared in a number of music videos. Zamar, the couple’s son, was born.

Runtown was identified as the composer of “Aye” by the media in 2014. “That question has been posed to me by numerous individuals,” Runtown said in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune.
