James Ikechukwu Esomugha is Jim Iyke’s real name. He is a renowned Nigerian actor. In the film Last Flight to Abuja, he co-starred with Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Jide Kosoko, Uru Eke, and Jalade Ekeinde.
Early Life & Education
Jim Iyke was born on September 25, 1976, in Libreville, Gabon, to Mr. Stephen Okolue and Mrs. Ngozi Gladys Okolue Esomugha. He is from the town of Enugu Agidi in Anambra State. He is the lone male in a family of eight children. Jim Iyke received his secondary education at Federal Government College, Kwali, Abuja, from 1985 to 1991. Following his WAEC, he attended the University of Jos in Plateau State, where he earned a BSc in philosophy and a diploma in banking and finance.
After finishing his studies, Jim Iyke moved to Lagos, where he spent his early years of struggle. When he met Victor Opurum, a lawyer who pushed him to fight for his ideal career, his desire to pursue acting was kindled. He did, however, make it clear to the actor that he possesses a diverse set of skills and could pursue a variety of career paths.
He took the advise to heart and went out to make his dreams a reality. As a Model in his early years, Jim Iyke had an advantage. He worked as a brand ambassador for a variety of companies because he possesses the physique, height, and other characteristics required of a male model. Because of his international modeling success, Jim Iyke has an advantage in the Nigerian film industry.
He began his acting career in 2001 and has since starred in over 120 films, both as a lead and as a supporting actor. His acting abilities ranged from a young, conceited millionaire to a bad youngster leading gangs, a wild lover boy, a wealthy guy, a sarcastic bad boy, and a variety of other parts. His acting talent has elevated him to the ranks of the highest-paid and most in-demand Nollywood performers.
Jim Iyke is the owner of a record label. In addition to his own music label, Untamed Records, he launched Untamed Productions, a film production company, in 2007. On his debut album, Who Am I?, he collaborated with some of Nigeria’s best musicians, including TuFace Idibia and Sound Sultan.
He is married to his beautiful wife, Dana Kinduryte who is a lawyer and hailed from Lithuania.
Jim Iyke made the announcement of his son’s birth in April 2019.
A video of Jim Iyke’s supposed “deliverance” from an evil spirit at The Synagogue Church of All Nations, led by Pastor T.B. Joshua, ignited a heated debate on social media. The spirit supposedly claimed responsibility for Iyke’s inability to find a wife.
Jim Iyke was involved in a nasty fight with fellow actor, Uche Maduagwu.
In a viral video circulating on social media on Tuesday, Jim Iyke physically attacked Uche.
This came after Maduagwu questioned his source of wealth and called him a ritualist on social media.
Also, ayoung lady who is the daughter of a Lagos-based businessman acclaimed that she is pregnant for Jim-Iyke. Even after being forced by her father to confess, she still stubbornly insisted that they had a secret affair. However, that did not tarnish the respect people had for Jim Iyke.
Also, he was alleged to have been involved in a 14-million-naira fraud, he was charged to court and given a bail option of 500,000 with two sureties of the same amount.
While some rebuked him, others said Habiba Abubakar, the complainant is an estranged lover.
Influence & Impact
Jim Iyke has had an impact on people’s lives, particularly those with disabilities. He established the Foundation for Children with Special Needs. In December 2012, he traveled to Kenya in support of the Make a Change Campaign, a charity initiative founded by Christopher Grey and Jamaican dance hall musician Cécile.
