Olorunyomi Omoniyi Makun, often known as Yomi Casual, is a Nigerian fashion designer and fashion brand. He has received more than 30 honors, including the Lagos @50 Hall of Fame Award for Excellence. He is the younger brother of well-known comedian AY.

Early Life and Education

Yomi Casual was born in Lagos, Nigeria on January 25, 1985. He is the seventh and final kid of the Makun family. He is from Ifon in Nigeria’s Ondo State. He also attended primary and secondary school in Lagos State. He earned a diploma in fashion design and clothing technology from Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, Nigeria.

Career

Yomi Casual is the company’s founder and CEO, Omoniyi Makun. When his fashion line first debuted in 2007, he quickly rose to the ranks of top fashion designers due to his daring and avant-garde designs, which made him a favorite among African and Nigerian celebrities. Yomi Casual is an African design label that specializes in cut-to-fit African designs that are intricately textured and designed to make their clients stand out in style.

He has an excellent track record of drawing industry titans, businessmen, socialites, and politicians from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and other African countries. Personal Life

Grace Makun, nee Onuoha, married Yomi Casual. She is the CEO of Fab Jewels and has been his long-term girlfriend. On July 9, 2017, they got engaged at the Funnybone Untamed II comedy show at Eko Hotel & Suites. As his longtime friend and Nollywood actor Gbenro Ajibade handed him the ring, he had the DJ play the Styl Plus hit song “Olufunmi” as he knelt down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.

The couple married in October of the same year, and they have a child together, Kahley Makun, who was born in January 2018 in Atlanta, United States of America.

 

Controversy

Yomi was involved in a baby mama incident a few years back. Yomi’s ex-girlfriend was believed to have supported him during his formative years as a designer, but she was left behind when he rose to fame.

It was also disclosed that Yomi twice caused her to become pregnant. He tricked her by purchasing her a car and pledging to marry her when the baby was born, but he never did, after she lost her first pregnancy twice.
