Why I Called Off My Wedding in 2013 – Ifedayo Agoro

Ifedayo Agoro, a media celebrity and the founder of Diary of a Naija Girl (DANG), has explained why she called off her wedding in 2013.

Agoro discussed her decade-long failing relationship in response to an X article about the significance of canceling engagements if doubts emerge.

She stated that she ended her engagement approximately two months before the planned wedding.

The entrepreneur remembered that when she was nearly 30, she realized she was marrying for the “wrong reasons” and chose to prioritize her own well-being over cultural expectations.

The 41-year-old further stated that it was “one of the best decisions of my life”.

“I was going to clock 30 and I don’t know who put it in my head that I had to be married at that time or it would be socially unacceptable to be unmarried at 30,” she wrote.

“Broke off my engagement two months to the wedding. Broke things off without thinking of all of that and returned everyone’s aso ebi money. I was getting married for the wrong reasons and I just couldn’t continue. I made one of the best decisions of my life.”

Agoro, who has no public relationships, was born on May 13, 1983.

She started her career as an anonymous blogger, exploring a variety of social topics.

In 2015, she founded DANG, an online platform where she shares Nigerian women’s daily experiences.
