Why Rema Walked Off Stage in Atlanta

Rema, the Afrobeats musician, declined to perform in Atlanta, US, on Thursday, citing “terrible” venue conditions.

The Mavins Records artist is on the second leg of his ‘Raves and Roses’ North American Tour. He was slated to perform for music fans at the Tabernacle hotspot.

However, in now-viral video, the 23-year-old can be heard expressing his displeasure with the concert’s organizers for providing a venue that “disrespected me and Afrobeats.”

“You guys paid your hard-earned money to do this sh** and I can not get disrespected by this sound. This is rubbish. We do not move like this. Afrobeats is way too big to move like this. I do not take no rubbish,” he said.

He also announced a reschedule of the show before walking off the stage.

“I respect my fans. I do not wanna move like this. I am going to reschedule this show. They have disrespected me and disrespected Afrobeats by treating you guys like this. I am out. I love you,” Rema added.

Born Divine Ikubor, Rema has been enjoying massive reception from music lovers since he came into the limelight.

The singer has also won several awards and recognition.

Rema has released several hit songs including ‘Dumebi, ‘Bad Commando’, and ‘Iron Man’, among others.

His 2022 chart-topping track ‘Calm Down’ has garnered millions of streams across music platforms.

The singer later enlisted Selena Gomez, the US songstress, for the remix of the song.
