BUA Group Donates N1 Billion Entrepreneurship Centre to UNIMAID

Abdul Samad Rabiu, billionaire and chairman of BUA Group, presented the University of Maiduguri with a N1 billion International Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship created by his personal foundation, Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa, on Sunday.

Rabiu made the presentation at the university’s 24th Combined Convocation, where he also earned an honorary degree for his major contributions to national development, education, and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

At the inauguration, which was attended by Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, the billionaire emphasized the center’s importance as more than just a physical edifice. He described it as an innovative nexus of ideas, creativity, and practical entrepreneurship.

According to Rabiu, the ASR International Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship arose from his strong belief in the transforming power of education and entrepreneurship. This dedication was further evidenced by his considerable investment of one billion Naira in the ASR Africa center.

“In a world where economies are rapidly evolving and Nigeria strides towards renewed hope, centres like this are vital for development. They are the platforms for nurturing our future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. We must not just learn; we must act,” Abdul Samad Rabiu said.

Dr. Ubon Udoh, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ASR Africa, emphasized the importance of the initiative in his remarks. He believes the center has the ability to stimulate economic and social growth, provide a global platform for innovative expression, and foster collaborations with premier international educational and innovation organizations.

Other dignitaries in attendance were Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and traditional rulers.

Administrative offices, dynamic workstations, creative idea hubs, a café, a large library, and an exhibition hall are all part of the new center. It also has a 150-seat auditorium for high-profile lectures and academic conferences.

ASR Africa, founded in 2021, aims to provide sustainable, impact-based, homegrown solutions to developmental concerns affecting Africa’s Health, Education, and Social Development.
