The entertainment company Epic Media Enterprises has announced the date and artists for the inaugural ‘Afrobeats In America’ festival.
The ‘Afrobeats In America’ festival is billed as a family-friendly celebration of Black History Month.
On February 16, there will be a pre-party at the Z on 23 Rooftop, followed by the main festival the next day at the Discovery Green.
The after-party is set for February 18 at the Z on 23 Rooftop.
The festival’s organizers said in a statement that Kelly Hansome, Omawumi, and Young Paris will head the pack of Afrobeats stars.
Others include Emma Nyra, Donna Adja, Kobi Jonz, and Morachi, Big Klef, Bils, Sudxn, Heph B, Duncan Daniel, Ajaeze, Isaac Geralds, T Bonny, Afrorolls, and Naira.
DJ Jimmy Jatt, Moti Cakes, and DJ Xpression have also been announced among the entertainers set to delight festivalgoers over the course of three days.
Speaking about the event, Akpor Gbemre, the CEO of Epic Media and the festival’s originator, stated that it aims to promote Afrobeats as well as showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural history on a global scale.
He also informed that the organization has invited more Afrobeats artists to the festival.
“We took our time to carefully choose the artistes that will perform during the festival. I’m particularly happy that legendary DJ Jimmy Jatt will be with us at the festival; he’s a veteran in the industry. This is the first lineup we are releasing, but as time goes on, we will update you on other artistes coming on board. We are currently speaking with a couple of other artistes, who are interested in performing at the event; we will give details as soon as they are confirmed,” he said.
