Udoka Chigozie Oku, a Nigerian musician and songwriter, goes by the stage name Selebobo. He was previously signed to Made Men Music Group. Yoyo, Selfie, and Waka Waka are Selebobo’s three most popular songs. He has also collaborated with Iyanya, Tekno Miles, Yemi Alade, and Flavour N’abania. He was also nominated for Producer of the Year at The Headies Awards in 2018.
Early Life and Education
Udoka Chigozie Oku was born in Enugu State, Nigeria, on July 29, 1992. He is the eldest of twelve children in his family, and one of his brothers, Okechukwu Oku, is a well-known director. His father, guitarist and musician Goddy Oku, performed at local events throughout the 1970s. As a result, he was exposed to a variety of instruments, including the guitar, and his musical knowledge grew. He began making music on his keyboard when he was twelve years old.
Udoka received his primary and secondary education in Enugu before transferring to Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.
Career
Selebobo’s stage performance is one of the abilities that propelled him to fame. His team, “SHADOWS,” which competed in the 2009 Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa Competition, provided him with additional inspiration for his break dancing. He believes that God is the source of all of his inspiration, which he credits to his father, Mr Goddy Oku, a well-known guitarist and artist from the 1970s. At the age of seven, he began recording in his father’s Enugu studio, Godiac Studios, and at the age of twelve, he began producing using his tiny Yamaha Djx keyboard.
Later, in order to advance his career, he began writing and producing music, but it wasn’t until 2013 that he successfully released his top single, “Yoyo,” which featured J. Martins. Soon after, he was signed to the Made Men Music Group (MMMG) record label alongside Tekno, Iyanya, and Emma Nyra. Mixx Monsta was Selebobo’s MMMG alias. In 2014, he collaborated with Yemi Alade to create the famous song “Johnny,” which has received over 100 million views.
Selebobo left MMMG in 2019 to start his own record label, “Vault.” Rudeboy’s debut solo album, Rudy Kill Us, was produced by Selebobo in 2021.
Personal Life
Selebobo is one of the few celebrities that keep their private lives and relationships off the public view. The young and talented musician is believed to be in a relationship which is not known to the public.
