Transcorp Hotels Appoints AGF Oluwatoyin Madein as Non-Executive Director

Transcorp Hotels, Nigeria’s first hospitality company to reach N1 trillion in market capitalization, has appointed Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, the Accountant General of the Federation, as a non-executive director to its board.

According to a corporate notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Tuesday, Transcorp Hotels Plc’s board of directors accepted Madein’s appointment for March 5, 2024.

“As a company that values governance as a performance enabler, we believe that this appointment will strengthen the board’s oversight functions, enhancing value creation and delivery for all stakeholders,” the corporate notice signed by the Group Company Secretary, Stanley Chikwendu, read in part.

Madein is presently the Federation’s Accountant-General, having previously served as Assistant Director, Deputy Director, and Director of Finance and Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.

She holds a PhD in Management (Finance) from Walden University in the United States.

She also has an MBA from Ogun State University and is a Fellow of several professional associations, including the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants in the United Kingdom, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.

According to a statement from the Federation’s Office of the Head of Service, Madein’s appointment as AGF took effect on May 18, 2023, exactly one year after the suspension of the previous AGF, Ahmed Idris.
