FG To Fund Registrations To 250,000 MSMEs – Minister

The federal government has disclosed that it is funding the registration for 250,000 Micro, Small Medium Enterprises (MSME), which will be registered at zero cost, under its Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP).

The government also stated that it is concessioning two Brownfield Special Economic Zones while commencing work on developing four additional greenfield sites.

The Minister of Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, disclosed via the government’s Twitter handle on Thursday, December 10.

He tweeted: “Right now, under the ESP, @NigeriaGov is funding registration for 250,000 MSMEs, which would be registered at zero cost.

“We are also concessioning two Brownfield Special Economic Zones while commencing work on developing four additional greenfield sites.”

The director-general, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dasuki Arabi, had earlier said the federal government is tackling unemployment by relying on Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Arabi explained that the mandate of the agency is to inform Nigerians of reforms and initiatives of the government.

He disclosed this during a one-day forum organized by the agency in partnership with the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Civil Society Organizations in identifying service delivery challenges in MSMEs interventions.

He said: “In the light of the ENDSARS protest that was hijacked by hoodlums, we realized that, there is a need for us to bring the Civil Society Groups together to inform them of the various interventions of government to improve the living standard of the youths and Nigerians in general.

“We have brought officials of government agencies providing support for SMEs and Nigerians to talk to them so that we speak one language, understand what the programs are and to guide them and they go out to guide their members on how to benefit from these interventions.”
